The Coffey Advisory Group was founded by Rich Coffey. Mr. Coffey was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. In 2002, he graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas where he received a degree in Finance while playing two collegiate sports (football and track).  Early in his career, Mr. Coffey worked for large national public and private corporations alongside many C-level executives. These industries included durable medical equipment, supplemental health insurance, and commercial real estate. In 2006, Mr. Coffey returned to Austin to attend St. Edward’s University where he earned a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations. He completed a certificate in finance from the Harvard University Business School pertaining to business valuations and acquisitions. Most recently, Mr. Coffey has completed a certificate from the Yale School of Management Executive Education Program in Managerial Decision Making. 

 

Since returning to Austin, Mr. Coffey has worked for smaller to mid-sized companies in the legal, real estate, and advertising fields. It is here that Mr. Coffey realized that these companies were being underserved when it came to advisory services. These companies typically have a great product or service and are led by very passionate owners that are very skilled in their trade but may have limited experience in business operations, finance, and accounting. Having been part of very large corporations Mr. Coffey implements best practices that are scalable as the company grows while also providing financial analysis and a strategic mindset to help grow the business and maximize profits.

 

In his downtime, Mr. Coffey enjoys spending time with his wife Megan, and two sons Will and Colt, while also spending time with numerous other family members living in the Austin area. He also coaches middle school football at Regents School of Austin and serves on numerous nonprofit boards throughout Austin.

 

For his work and contributions both in and out of the office, Mr. Coffey was a finalist in 2014, 2016, and 2018 for the Austin Business Journal's "Best CFO in Austin Award" and was the winner of the 2017 Austin Under 40 (AU40) Award in the Financial Services and Insurance category.
